I am a parent AND a professional who knows how to create effective educational models and how to prepare kids for the future. For the past fifteen years, I have built my career working in, and around, education. I began by helping youth in the foster care and juvenile justice systems to obtain job skills training in preparation for them to enter the workforce. Since that time, my understanding of the integral relationship between education and community involvement has only grown. By providing supportive educational environments to our youth, we build a foundation that allows for the development of skills that will serve students and their community well beyond high school.
As a board member, I will represent parents and children from the entire spectrum. I am the mother of two Kyrene children, I have been an active member of the vibrant Kyrene community for over seven years and have served in a variety of roles within the district. From my time volunteering in the classroom to being a PTO committee chair, to my current position as a member of the Kyrene Superintendent Community Council, I have seen the high standard of excellence that Kyrene strives to provide each student. Through the experiences of my children, I’ve seen a wide spectrum of educational experiences. I understand the challenges that accompany having a child who needs differentiated learning whether that is gifted or special education.
I will address the needs and concerns brought forth by community members and will strive to do so with transparency and civility by seeking our diverse viewpoints. I believe that schools are the cornerstone of a community and am deeply committed to the continued success of Kyrene schools. As a governing board member, I will serve the community by collaborating with parents, educators, administration, and community members to find solutions that best meet the needs of our children.
